In my painting process, I focus on colors and form. I set them free and let them speak their own, intimate language. I recognize a hidden symbol, which they disclosed to me and which I identified in the material world. I am inspired by nature, which I explore. In my paintings, I strive for perfection by depicting my emotions instead of what I think I see. I choose harmonious compositions and simple design which, when combined, compose a sophisticated mixture.
About me
Katarzyna Porczak is a painter born in 1981 in Jarosław, Poland. She obtained her master’s degree from the Institute of Fine Arts at the Maria Curie-Słodowska University in Lublin. Katarzyna received her diploma in 2007 from the sculpture studio led by professor Adam Myjak, graduating with Dean’s distinction. Between 2002 and 2010, she actively participated in Lublin’s artistic life. Among others, Katarzyna has been closely associated with Galeria Ośrodka Praktyk Teatralnych Gardzienice, where she was the gallery curator, and Lublin’s Cultural Center. She was also an guest expert in in Józef Szopiński’s programme called “Studnia Akademicka”. In 2017, she defended my postgraduate thesis in entrepreneurship at the Warsaw School of Economics. At the same time, she gained her PhD degree from the artistic textile studio led by professor Dorota Grynczel from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. After Grynczel’s departure, professor Stanisław Baj became her new dissertation advisor. Under his guidance, Katarzyna defended her PhD in 2019. Currently, she works as an art teacher. While educating children, teenagers, and adults about art, she pays the closes attention to sparking creativity and initiating self-reflection as well as “awakening inner creator.” She constantly creates and supports others in their artistic endeavours. Simultanously, Katarzyna gains new knowledge and evolves as a creator through her realtions with her pupils.
In her spare time, Katarzyna enjoys practicing yoga, horse-riding, and paragliding.
